The Botanical Garden of Padua

The Botanical Garden of Padua, founded in 1545 on the decision of the Senate of the Venetian Republic, is the oldest university garden in the world that has preserved its original location over the centuries and, despite some changes from the early 1700s, even the main scientific features and architectural.
This complex of extraordinary scientific, historical, artistic and naturalistic value is located in the middle of the historical center of Padua, between the basilicas of Sant'Antonio and Santa Giustina, in an urban area that includes in the immediate vicinity complex of great historical value and such as the Scrovegni Chapel frescoed by Giotto and the historical site of the University, Palazzo Bo.
In view of the significant cultural activity carried out uninterruptedly for almost half a millennium, in 1997 the Botanical Garden of Padua was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
